For about a month, up until last week, Cecelia had slept on the couch with Rachelle. We tried putting her in the crib to sleep, but she would wake up after 15 minutes and scream. We couldn’t let her ‘cry it out’ because Layla was sleeping in the next room.
Cecelia liked sleeping on the couch because our couch tilts slightly back so it rolls her into Rachelle and keeps her warm. I liked it because I had the bed to myself. Rachelle didn’t like it because the couch destroys her back.
When she returned to work last week we had to start putting the baby in her crib. To our surprise, the next few days she slept until around 4:30 am, woke up to eat, then fell back asleep until 7 am. The last two nights I’m happy to say that she slept from about 11pm until 6 am. Amazing! I almost accepted the fact that we’d have an 8 year old sleeping in bed with us and suddenly she’s become comfortable in her crib.
We bought her this device that projects a cartoon ‘under the sea’ picture on the ceiling and plays music. The problem is that there’s two volume settings: loud and deafening. Sometimes we turn it on but most times we’re afraid it’ll wake her.
So, barring a jinx, we’ve found our way into some sort of routine. It’s not easy, and I dread having to get out of bed at 4:30 am to get a bottle together, feed her, and get thrown up on, but it’s great to know that she’s ok with being alone and that stability is in the midst of being restored.

Last night was amazing. 9:30pm until I woke her at 7. I hope we have more nights like that.
Hope it continues for you! Can you have Cecelia call Corinne to fill her in on this “mythical routine”?
